Shocking, I know. Not entirely sure I will recover from realising it….but…sadly, its true. However, since I will be 49 soon, the shiny, lycra one piece is just not so flattering anymore….the cape is of course a different thing altogether.
Remembering some of the funnier moments in the Marsden on Wednesday…The Man in the hospital cafe saying loudly that he really wasn’t going to be nice to me just because I have breast cancer…to more than a few shocked looks…me asking the radiographer if my being microchipped would affect my security status in the Middle East….The Male following it up by discussing the cost of having to expand his cat flap so I could fit through with the micro chips activating it…the radiographer telling me that they have markers shaped like the cancer pink ribbon (that was serious, apparently) and me sulking because I wanted one but apparently not suitable for my types of tumours. Expressing a desire to have different tumours in order to accommodate one of those was one step too far I felt….
Related to the above, how cancer changes you #35 – feeling relieved and happy to be in a cafe in a cancer hospital. In between the appointments we went to the Science Museum to get some presents for the kids – all good – but I got totally overwhelmed with the crowds and everything and had to get out….and was hugely relieved when we were back at the Marsden…
And receiving an e-mail yesterday from the secretary of the lovely, non ISIS, consultant who talked all about how they can accommodate me and my work/travel, reassuring me that a few weeks will make no difference and outlining 3 options, all working around me.
Finally, kids decided to surprise me yesterday with an early cake for my birthday since we won’t be together on the actual day – see picture attached – I am wearing a rasta beret with fake dreadlocks attached – Hayley’s contribution for when I go bald…oh, but with a paper birthday crown over it. I think I will wear both all the time in the winter. ![]()
based around me, topped it off. Did I mention I love the Marsden.
A family selfie that rocks!
