And I’m still alive! Well OK, we all knew I would be but allow me some drama…you know the line….I have cancer and all that.
Yesterday was pretty hellish – starting from around 3.30am. BUT, the anti nausea meds worked, and are still working, wonders which had made all the difference. I can cope with the rest but nausea and vomiting send me off the edge. All a bit of a haze yesterday really though.
My wonderful, wonderful friend who came to the UK early from Kenya to be with me made all the difference. Thank you my friend for holding such a light and brilliant space for me and my family. And who of course the chemo unit were convinced was my partner…more of the surreal day that was in it. I never do name any of you in this by the way, my amazing friends who I refer to so often, as I assume you don’t want to be named. No idea why I assume that really, so let me know if you do or don’t and I won’t unless I hear differently!
The Man came to collect me from home yesterday and then I could safely collapse in his house…which I most definitely did. Pass out repeatedly would be more like it. But, by 3.30am, so pretty much 24 hours later, the horrible heaviness and worst of the side effects lifted which is very cool. Now I feel more human, yes, it’s all relative , like I’ve been hit by a truck, weak etc etc but back to me. So let’s see – once I know what I’m dealing with, it’ll be a whole lot easier to plan ahead.
In short, I am happy right now. A ton to plan, sort out, manage personally and professionally, but right here, right now I’m chilling out with The Man and life is good :).
