No snow, armies, ice or anything else – so today I get chemo!
In the hospital now – I come in here (in Amman) and the whole team from the finance guy to the lab all smile and greet me by name. It feels so bloody good. I had wanted to stop at Starbucks on the way here but was late leaving so asked to be dropped straight here. This lovely, lovely driver then said to me he would go to Starbucks for me and bring me a coffee back to the hospital. I nearly burst into tears it was so bloody kind.
Again I am reminded about how many wonderful people I keep meeting on this journey. Random acts of kindness, and not so random ones, have filled every step of the way.
And I want to fucking brain this idiot at work – just important to counter balance the soppiness! Am in full on work mode – I think it’s going well – hard to tell really – but I am able to kick ass again so it feels good.
Getting called in now for my chemo!
I think we’re all mostly living in the wrong culture. Jordan is obviously where kindness lives. How wonderful to be treated like a human being. It is not a priority where I live, but I continue to try behaving to others as MY contribution to society (I’m not always successful and am constantly afraid of becoming one of “them). I am sadly disappointed in the main when I have expectations of getting it reciprocated. Hope the chemo was quick, painless and that the after effects are not too unpleasant. X
