Is receiving an e-mail from my now former company telling me my end date was 28th February, can I fill out the separation paperwork and I will not get paid for the 29th February.

And some other stuff we apparently discussed in our meeting on 9th February – that would be the one where I was crying in the lobby of the Kempinski Hotel in Amman – that we never actually discussed. Nor was I at that time given notice. I was told I needed a break and to take 2 weeks sick leave and then options would be discussed after I’d had that time.

Apart from the obvious terror of having no income and no way in the coming months to actually earn anything, I am stunned by the complete lack of humanity. This is the sort of thing you see in movies about Wall Street/cutthroat businesses – and would still be shocked that someone could be treated this way.

The main thing playing on my mind through the night is the health insurance – the e-mail said I can take it over privately from 1st March – i.e. today, but I am guessing they will only facilitate that if I agree to ending my contract in this way. Which I am not going to do. But I have no idea what that will mean for my coverage.

Fucking hell.
