The rollercoaster is not over, despite me thinking (hoping) and acting like it is many days…. 3 weeks post surgery, I could not wear my normal bras. Tried twice and after an hour I would swell, it hurt and I had to take it off. Then I went to John Lewis on Tuesday post wonderful…
Month: April 2016
5 O’Clock shadow watch
On my hairline and eyebrows. There is definite stubble on both – I will end up having sliver hair with dark roots and I have no idea how my eyebrows will end up! But for the latter, at first I thought it was stains left from the new eyebrow draw in stuff I’d got (and…
Wonderful Radiotherapist
Just left the Marsden after a great meeting with the radiotherapist – the man whose name escapes me, but who will be working with the barking woman I saw last time! To the important details – I will have 3 weeks and one day of radiotherapy, starting 13th May. Have to laugh – Friday 13th…
Doctors everywhere
I just wrote an update to the bunch of parents at the kids school who have helped out so much the last two terms with after school care, lunches etc etc – they really have been amazing! And realised how very much has gone on over the last 2 months since my last update to…
Burnt down house
It came to me last night – how to describe (for myself) where I am at right now. It is like I was in my home, which is also where my work was based, when it went up in flames. After the firemen struggled to get me out and all of us suffering from smoke…
9 days of being in remission and 2 days since I found out :)
That is the technical term – I am now officially in remission. (Western) medicine is very much designed for the medics and not the patient – in this case, I personally find the terminology quite negative. You are not ‘cured’ of cancer until 5 years have passed, progression is measured in 5 & 10 year…
I no longer have cancer
There was a very small amount of cancer left where the tumour was, removed during surgery and the margins around this were all clear. 15 lymph nodes were removed (lovely surgeon didn’t mean to remove that many) and only the one which had the lump originally had a small bit of cancer left. The remaining…
Surgery results day
In about 4 or so hours, I will be getting my pathology results from the lovely surgeon. I haven’t actually been nervous up until now, which I suppose is not bad going. There is no real reason to think that there with be bad news – but quite honestly I really don’t want any news….
It’s all coming together
Stitches and all. Good god, I look like I am preparing to audition for the part of Frankenstein. About 4 inches down from my right shoulder, I have a 3 inch suture which is surrounded by yellow/green/blue bruised skin. The entire back of my right hand is pretty much the same colour from the canula…
14 hours after leaving we are back!
On the sofa in The Man’s house, him making dinner and all is well. All seemed to take a very long time – although of course I was knocked out for 80% of that time. The surgery itself I don’t think took much more than an hour or so, the tecovery time was as long…
The Man must really love me…
Since I clearly look so incredibly hot in my theatre gown, compression socks, dressing gown and slipper socks.
