I made it!!
Decided I will blog about the various adventures here….since it was cancer that led me here 🙂
And, honestly, I want to keep track of what is happening, I am writing for myself and to various people so putting it all on here helps me keep it in one place.
So far, Bangkok was a blast, I arrived in Samui 2 weeks and one day ago. In that time, I have:
- Found myself in a house more suited to a mountain goat. I lasted 3 nights in total – having paid 3 months rent up front…But I think I will get at least a couple of months back
- Crashed my moped twice on my first day. Leading to a knee the size of a melon, bruised down my shin to my ankle, a large burn on my calf (trying to get the moped up just a part of the way to the fucking house), some deep cuts on my foot and ankle. Home treated, 6 days later in hospital with an infection..antibiotics…Showers with one leg in the sink…no swimming or beach…emotionally lost the plot for 3 days non stop crying. But apparently needed that sort of sledgehammer to stop. Which I did.
- Well, I stopped just after I had what I thought was going to be a relaxing massage…she suggested cupping since I was tense, no shit..OK say I..picture attached of the result of that. I already couldn’t sleep because of the pain in the war wounds….then couldn’t lie on my back for 2 days…gotta laugh
- Met a mad Australian woman (she actually had a restraining order put on her by a neighbour…) who is a lot of fun and did get me to where I am staying now. And two other women. In a health food shop/cafe. One of the women had lost her wife to cancer a month ago, breast cancer, the mad Australian had lost her partner a year and a half ago to cancer. The other woman was the dead woman’s former girlfriend.
- Had an offer to live for a month, rent free, with the woman who’s wife died. And a second offer to live with a single mum and her 8 year old daughter. Both offers politely declined. Just what I came to Thailand for…
- Will move to my 4th room in the resort I have ended up staying in, thanks to the mad Australian. This one will be a small hut on the beach. I rented a luxury villa here for a few days post accident to cheer myself up, but couldn’t afford it for long
- Am loving the street food. vibe 🙂
- Found a great tattoo place where I plan to get a lot of work done…first tattoo tomorrow. Done by bamboo :-).
- Started a detox 3 days ago – still eating, but lots of fruit and veg, rice…and some more rice..
- Started to get my horrible port scar treated – steroid injections in it to start with – hurt like fuck, bizarrely. But the lumps are starting to recede. Can get laser done to get rid of the redness. Both better than cutting again.
- Had laser hair removal!
- Have had a massage every day. Wonderful.
- Met a mad, stoned Israeli guy – more on that when I cut and paste some previous writing
- Met a wonderful Thai woman who runs a little vegan restaurant – more on her as well coming up
- She brought me today to a fantastic Muay Thai place – there are lots around here, but seriously commercial and macho. This one is small, family run, and a lovely vibe. I start on Thursday!
OK, so perhaps I haven’t stopped quite as much as I thought I had. But right now, so very happy I can actually start doing the things I had planned to do, post moped traumas.
OK – no pic here as I can’t figure out how to insert it right now!
