Greetings from Co Down

And back to writing! It feels like forever since I have had some space to myself….in fact, I think it has been at least 100 years…

A few factual updates:

  • 24 days since my last radio – should be 23 but missed the last one
  • About 7 days since I finished antibiotics for the 2nd post op infection
  • The brown and blue tit (lesser spotted) remains
  • The burns are slowly healing – they were never that bad – but looked pretty awful
  • The last of the first post chemo white fluffy hair regrowth has been cut off
  • Hair everywhere else is growing back with a vengeance 😦
  • Lots of post cancer/cancer treatment side effects in force – extremely painful joints, stiffness, excessively tired on and off, weird nails, a bit lost/vulnerable in many ways, people assuming all is fine now and ‘back to normal’
  • Follow up visit with Prof Aloof next month
  • I have become allergic to going to The Marsden – refused to even go to the museums in the area the other day!

My life plans are moving ahead – I brought the little ones to their new school on Monday, hence me being in NI, and it was my first time to see it. Its absolutely brilliant!!! The exact right place for them to be – cancer or no cancer, time out etc – its perfect for them. Eccentric, stunningly beautiful location set on 27 acres of land and next to the sea, batty and very caring boarding staff, great teachers – it just feels so very, very right. An enormous relief – I have quite literally collapsed since dropping them. Arrived at my B&B yesterday around 2pm armed with a ton of fruit, yoghurt and camembert cheese and haven’t left since! In fact, I think I may have another nap now…I’ve been carrying a huge amount emotionally and physically in getting the kids ready for this whole life change nd seeing the school has landed a huge part for me…hence the collapse!

Delighted you are getting some “Down” time (har, har – someone had to say it). How wonderful that you have found such a great school for the kids. They’ll have Northern Ireland accents in no time at all. Seriously, I don’t know how anyone would think things would be “back to normal” for you so quickly. Even if you were aware what normal was in the first place. But I am seriously happy that you are getting some R&R. And that you are becoming hairy once again. xxxx
